I can add that I've used both and I couldn't say which I preferred. It's not as if you could go wrong with either iZotope or FabFilter. Demo a few, pick one option and don't look back. I'll probably prefer one over the others, but it's not as if they were worlds apart. Whether you give me the FabFilter plugs or Ozone and Nectar or a bunch of Waves plugins, I'll probably make you a good mix with either of these tools. That being said, I find that the difference between any two pieces of gear that do the same job is never as big as people like to make it out to be. I have to say that Neutron looks pretty cool and if it works as advertised, then it really brings something new to the table that makes the mixing job easier. I bet all the iZotope plugins are really great as well, weirdly I've never worked with any of them so I can't compare.

Not just the GUI, the features and the sound are unbeatable, too. Demo them, you will realize how amazing they are. Pro-Q is the best EQ I've ever used, Pro-C is the best compressor I've ever used, Saturn is the best saturation plugin I've ever used, and so on. That's an oversimplification of course, but you get the point.Īside from that I have owned and used the FabFilter FX bundle for years and I can tell you it all the plugins are absolutely amazing. Are you sure that you want to invest your first plugin money in mixing plugins rather than instruments? When I bought my first gear beyond the DAW back in the days, my experience was that buying things like Kontakt or Massive opened up my world of possibilities a lot more than buying some EQ or compressor plugin that did more or less the same that my Logic Pro stock EQ and compressor already did. Before I give you my opinion: What DAW do you use? Some DAWs like Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Studio One, Cubase or ProTools come with some really good stock mixing plugins.
